I've been told that I'm worrying for nothing, but just asking if a 75 gallon
tank is too much for an apartment floor. It's a highrise built in 1969 with
concrete floors.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The water will weigh as much as four 160 lb people, and the effect is
similar to five people (includes tank glass, rocks, gravel etc) standing
close together posing for a photo. Around 60-70g is where I start paying
more attention to the floor (ie: keep perpendicular to joists, close to
structural walls etc) but that's mostly to minimize tank bounce during
parties. I don't think this would pose any risk to a concrete floor,
however there might be insurance or apartment regulations which limit the
allowed size of the aquarium.

Adding in water, substrate type and depth and all the weight of the other
knick knacks like filters and lights, the best rule of thumb is to multiply
the total gallons by 9. 75 gallons times 9 equals 675 pounds. While it may
seem high by other standards it's a very god rule to follow.
